About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park found in the southwestern part of Uganda is an international recognized site for world tourism and natural conservation despite the fact that it hosts half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. This old tropical rainforest measures 331 square kilometers; it has a dense shrub layer and is rather rocky and steep. It’s situated between 1,160 and 2, 607 meters in altitude; it supports more than 400 plant species, 120 mammal species, and more than 350 bird species, out of which 23 are the Albertine Rift endemic species. Uganda has very many tourist attractions, but the major activity that is carried out in MGA is gorilla trekking since it presents the tourists with a great opportunity to see these fascinating mammals in their natural environment. Again through conservation boosted by ecotourism, mountain gorillas are today less endangered than before and they are even being breed. Other than gorillas, Bwindi has a host of other primates including chimpanzees, black and white colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys. It also has cultural activities with the Batwa people that live in the forest and still follow traditional life. Bwindi is one of Uganda’s diverse bio-sphere areas, and besides playing an uttermost vital role in conservation, it has cultural importance and therefore a perfect adrenalin rush for everyone interested in nature and physical encounters.
About Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Uganda’s Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the south western part of Uganda, although small, it has significant appeal due to its primordial inhabitants, the mountain gorillas. Covering approximately 33. 7 sq. Km, spans part of Virunga Conservation Area that includes Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Ecologically, Mgahinga has distinct characteristics of varying vegetation land cover, these are the bamboo hasard, montane wood land and the open country that sustains wildlife. Perhaps the most famous inhabitants of the park are the montane gorillas and it is one of the few remaining natural habitats for one of the many remaining sub-populations of this species. Some of those sightseen preferred by tourists are gorilla viewing, which involves taking a one hour hike through thick, dense vegetation to get a view of the gorillas. In addition, the park includes other activities such as; golden monkey tracking, bird watching and an astonishing hiking track that leads one to the marvelous bund of the Virunga volcanoes. Nevertheless, much as this is the case concerning wildlife tourism, this park is very valuable in the Uganda conservation strategy, besides being affiliated to the international conservation campaign for the protection of endangered species.
