January to February: The Dry Season

The first part of the Uganda dry season is observed during the months of January and February. This is widely appreciated as being the best time for gorilla trekking since the rates of precipitation are low and therefore the ground is not as slippery as it is in the other seasons. The vegetation is also thinner which makes it easier to see the gorillas. Also, the number of travelers is fewer in this season than in summertime since this is a not so busy season for trekking. The chances of rainfall are low and this brings in the factor of making the overall trekking experience a better one for the visitors interested in meeting the imposing gorilla apes in their natural habitat.

March to May: The Wet Season

The major rainy season in Uganda is from March through May with April and May being most primitive. These are the months when there is heavy rainfall and consequently the trails in the gorilla’s regions turn muddy, making it difficult to move around. On the other hand, rain can also produce very greenery that enhances the beauty of the environment suitable for photographs. The gorillas are more conveniently found in the lower slopes although the terrain is relatively a bit harsh for human activities. This time is usually less frequented by tourists which usually implies more chances to get the permits and probably, the prices in the accommodation places could be cheaper too. Though there are a lot of restrictions on the movement of people during the rainy season, it is an excellent time to go trekking since few people are likely to be around.

June to September: The Peak Season

December through to February and June to September are regarded as the best seasons for gorilla tracking in Uganda due to the long stated dry season. It experiences dry and sunny conditions ideal for trekking hence it is flocked by many tourists. This the reason that results to trails being easier to find and the general experience of trekking to become more comfortable. During this period, you will find that many people are booking for the gorilla trekking permits hence advisable to book early. With clear skies, and the vegetation being notably green, this place ensures great aesthetic value for photographs or even to sight wildlife. The tourism activity is high-spirited especially during this time of the year hence the travelers developed a lot of concern in the conservation of the gorillas.

October to November: The Short Rainy Season

It is slightly short rains in Uganda from October to early November. The other is the short rains, which while occurring, usually are not as heavy as the long rains. The forest regrows and becomes alive, overgrown with various plants and full of various fauna again fond of the wet environment. The trails can be very slippery, though the gorillas are generally attained at comparatively low altitude, making the trekking fairly easy. This period has comparatively less tourists and sometimes have a struggling business as compared to the dry season but it offers a better quality time and peace. Due to the irregularities of the seasons the climatic conditions are also variable, but the rains that fall intermittently present interesting and rather scenic conditions in the forest, and this is good for those who want to go and explore the natural world and for photographers.
