gorilla trekking permit, Uganda Wildlife Authority is a government agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities that regulates and also monitors and prepares how the different activities such as gorilla trekking permit, in tourism as well as different travel destinations are organized.  It has helped in the continuous conservation of Wildlife Species such as reviving back the actual numbers of mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The agency also created different trekking sectors which include among the following:

  • Buhoma
  • Ruhija
  • Rushaga
  • Nkuringo

Each trekking sector has its own different numbers of Gorilla Families. These families are created by Uganda Wildlife Authority to have a variety and proper distribution of people trekking these different families as a way to control high carrying capacities and avoid animal stress from People. In the recent years, the agency has been offering a variety of prices for different activities to be in different National Parks. All these tourist activities are organized in a document called a Tariff and each tariff runs for a different set of period basing on the market segments and dynamics as well as creating a fair but competitive gorilla trekking permit price range to attract large numbers of inquisitive passionate clients to come and engage in these different activities in our travel destination in Uganda today 2024.

With the vigorous Market research and stake holder engagement, Uganda Wildlife Authority reviewed the conservation Tariff and made some few changes with the prices of different park activities.

The Changes were approved by Uganda Wildlife Authority Board of Trustees and will be effective immediately in the summer season of 1st July 2024 running effectively to 30th June 2026

The New gorilla trekking permit will cost 800USD for Foreign Non Residents. The Foreign Residents will be buying a gorilla trekking permit at 700USD. The East African Community (Countries with residents in East Africa will be buying a gorilla trekking permit at 300,000 Uganda shillings. Rest of Africa will being purchasing a gorilla trekking permit at the cost of 500USD.  All these changes will be effective on 1st July 2024.

For Gorilla Habituation Experience, Foreign Non Residents will be paying 1,500USD for the Habituation Permit. Foreign Residents will be paying 1000USD for the Habituation permit for mountain Gorillas. The East African Community will be paying 750,000Uganda shillings to engage in Gorilla Habituation Experience and lastly Rest of Africa will be buying the Gorilla Habituation Permit at a cost of 1000USD.

These changes have been done so as to enable all travellers coming to Uganda to plan adequately to avoid any Misunderstanding that may be caused with a clash of the old prices. The changes will be effective on 1st July 2024.

The New Price of the Chimpanzee tracking Permit in Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park will cost 100USD for Foreign Non Residents per person per trek. The Foreign Residents will be buying a gorilla Permit at 80USD per person per trek. The East African Community (Countries with residents in East Africa will be buying a Gorilla Permit at 50,000 Uganda shillings per person per trek.

The above are the updated prices of the gorilla trekking permit, Gorilla Habituation, Chimpanzee Tracking, Chimpanzee Habituation in the different Gorilla and Chimpanzee destination in Uganda. Uganda Wildlife Authority has done this in order to have a direct contribution to more conservation initiatives and preservation of both Uganda`s Mountain Gorilla Populations and Chimpanzee Populations in Uganda today.

New Gorilla Families in different Tracking Sectors  

Following the continuous 4 year habituation exercise, Uganda Wildlife Authority is thrilled to announce the opening of the new gorilla trekking permit and families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This has been done so as to improve on the unique experience for clients who engage in both Gorilla Tracking and Gorilla Habituation Experience. This will also provide an unparalleled opportunity to witness the fascinating behaviors and interactions of these incredible animals.
