5- days Congo mountain gorilla trekking and Nyiragongo experience.

Guests will explore to the fullest Virunga National Park and the primates it is known for especially the mountain gorillas. Visitors will further hike to the summit of one of the most magnificent volcanoes in the Virunga conservation area that is to say Mount Nyiragongo. Guests therefore have the golden opportunity to unveil the thrilling adventures on the slopes of the mountain and the breathtaking views of the lava lakes.
The beautiful scenery at the summit of the mountain presents uncommon beautiful scenery that is good for photography and videography. Adventure seeking travelers and nature enthusiasts shouldn’t miss out on this adventure because it is indeed a dream come true kind of experience.
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, transfer to Gisenyi.
Guests upon arrival at Kigali International Airport will be received and welcomed by a tourist guide. Undertake the transfer to Gisenyi amidst the guidance of the professional tourist guide. This journey will take you approximately 3 hours and 34 minutes for the 439.8 kilometer distance. Continue to the hotel on arrival in Gisenyi and have a delicious lunch. Relax in the premises of the hotel as you enjoy the views of the environment.
In the afternoon, you will relax at the beach and reflect on the exciting safari you are yet to experience. Dinner will be served at sunset at the lodging facility where you’ll be accommodated for the night.
Day 2: Travel from Gisenyi to Kibumba tented camp.
After breakfast at the lodge, you’ll check out to embark on the drive to Kibumba a tented camp in the outskirts of Virunga National Park. This journey will take you through various towns that will further give you an insight into the ways of life of the African people. Continue to the tented Camp on arrival where you will be served delicious meals. Explore around the tented camp for an opportunity to unveil the breathtaking views in the vicinity of the camp.
You will also stand a chance to observe some primate species especially the black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervets and several bird species endemic to central Africa. Dinner will be served at sunset after which you will have a night time rest to prepare you for the upcoming adventures the following day.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park.
Guests upon waking up will be served a delicious breakfast. Savour the delicious meal and then travel to the national park headquarters. At the headquarters you’ll meet the Ranger guides who will brief you about the exciting adventure with the gorillas you are yet to have. The rangers will tell you about the rules and guidelines of the trek. They will after accompany you to the jungle to help you meet the mountain gorillas. This activity can go on up to six or seven hours depending on the location of the gorilla family and the trekking speed of the visitors.
Make sure you enjoy the experience with the gorillas and take pictures with them when encountered. You will travel back to the camp in the afternoon to get served a delicious lunch. Relax at the camp as you reflect on your safari in the evening. Dinner will be served and you rest for the night.
Day 4: Nyiragongo hike.
Breakfast at the camp will be served at crack of dawn after which you’ll undertake the transfer to the base of mount Nyiragongo. Ranger guides will brief you about the activity and provide you with hiking sticks.
Embark on the hike starting at Kibati ranger post which is at an elevation of 1870 metres above sea level. The entire hike from this post is about 6.5 kilometers. Hike at your own pace as you enjoy the views of the captivating landscapes of the Virunga massif.
A packed lunch will be served along the way. Continue to the summit which elevates at 3470 metres above sea level. On arrival at the summit, you will relax and enjoy the views of the surroundings of the mountain and the beautiful lava lake.
Celebrate your achievement of hiking to the summit the entire evening. Dinner will later be served and you will be accommodated for the night at the summit shelters.
Day 5: Descend back. Travel back to Kigali.
A delicious breakfast will be served to you at the summit shelters. Luxuriate in the golden hour above the Virunga massif landscapes as you enjoy the delicious meal. After the meal, you will then undertake the descending journey down the mountain.
This will take you about 3 to 4 hours and on arrival at the base, you will undertake the drive to Kigali. The drive back to Kigali will take you approximately 1 to 2 hours covering a distance of 187 kilometers distance. Arrival in Kigali will be the end of the trip.
